Sustainable Supply Chain

In the Sustainable Supply Chain simulation, students play the role of a supply chain manager for a multinational company that produces personal care products, such as liquid soaps, shampoos, conditioners and shower gel for a period of five years. During five simulated years, decisions across the stages of the supply chain (procurement, production, logistics) are made to optimize the company's sustainability and quality ratings, as well as its financial results.

For universities, this simulation is also available from Harvard Business Impact.

How to play

A key challenge in the simulation is to make procurement decisions (on oils, packaging materials, fragrances, thickeners and machines) that will help the company reach ambitious goals related to biodiversity, greenhouse gas emissions, quality and profitability. At the same time students need to ensure that corruption and unfair labour practices are avoided throughout the supply chain.
